[Abk. für Multi Domain Vertical Alignment, dt. »vertikale Ausrichtung in vielen Bereichen«], neuerer Typ von Flüssigkritallbildschirm (LCD), den der Hersteller Fujitsu entwickelt hat. Die Flüssigkristalle sind senkrecht zur Bildschirmoberfläche angeordnet. Wird eine Spannung angelegt, drehen sie sich - je nach Stärke der Spannung - mehr oder weniger stark aus dieser Richtung, sodass die Zellen mehr oder weniger hell erscheinen. Jede Bildpunktzelle ist in Bereiche (Domains) eingeteilt, in denen die Flüssigkristalle jeweils in entgegengesetzte Richtungen abgelenkt werden. So heben sich unerwünschte Wirkungen gegenseitig auf. Das Bild ist hell und kontrastreich; zudem reagieren die MVA-Zellen schnell. Einer weiten Verbreitung stehen derzeit noch die relativ hohen Herstellungskosten entgegen. IPS.
